Unagi Pop-Up@Sushi Tsujita Sawtelle ★★★

Amazing Unagi Pop-Up at Sushi Tsujita. Grilled Farm-Raised & Organically Sourced Yamada Unagi from Japan. May 17-23 only. Tasted just like the authentic ones in Nagoya, Japan. Fatty, served nice & hot & covered. Unagi set comes in $48 (Ume), $65 (Take), and $85 (Matsu) tier. We ordered the $85 Matsu set, which included everything. Walk-in only, but it's not busy. Valet parking in rear lot for $10 or street parking.

Toku Unagi & Sushi@West Hollywood ★★★

Decent Authentic Unagi from Japan. $140 8-Course Dinner for dineLA 4/28-5/12. 5 kinds of Sake Pairing for $45. Good deal and goes very well with the dineLA menu. Mimurosugi Junmai Daiginjo for the 1st Course Pairing was nice and fruity with lychee flavor. Great for starter. 2nd Course Kyokusen Junmai Daiginjo was pure with slight carbonation. Perfect pairing with Sashimi. Also another 2nd Course option, Kamoizumi Junmai Daiginjo was sophisticated with mushroom and leather flavor. Perfect pairing for Truffle Oil Salmon. Nice staff. Because the Tempura took a while to come out, they gave us 2 additional glasses of sake on the house. Green tea (pot) $3. Free limited parking in underground lot.

Hizen-Ya Unadon Speciality Shop 肥前屋@Taiwan ★★★

Best Unagi in Taipei. Fresh unagi that is never frozen. Authentic chef from JapanAbout 30-45 minute waiting in line, but it's all well worth it. Their non-unagi dishes, such as Assorted Sashimi, Tempura, & Fried Oyster, were good too. We visited this restaurant twice in one trip. That's how heavenly good it is.
