OTOTO@Echo Park ★★★

Floating World Nama (unpasteurized) Sake Pairing Dinner Event. Awesome & educational presentation from the sake world with Linda Tetrault (Owner, Floating World Imports), Yuki Shibata (VP, Shibata Brewery), Jesse Pugach (Founder, fifth taste), & Shota Kakibata (Sake Sommelier, fifth taste). 6 delicious courses paired with 7 kinds of sake. Oysters with Nigori was fantastic. Kaze no Mori was one of my favorites, which I also bought a bottle from Tokyo recently. It's interesting how they serve the same sake fresh & also aged 7 days for oxidation, which gave it a sparkling texture. Fresh Sashimi. Mushroom Rice was so good. We also ordered a bottle of smooth Heiwa Shuzo Muryozan. Love Shibata Black Yuzu. Such a fun & enjoyable night. The event was $150 per person via Tock.

Yama Sake Tasting@West LA ★★★

Amazing Sake Tasting Event at Yama Sushi Sake Attitude. Tasting 5 different sake for $15 with generous pours and refills. Came with Sashimi sample and chocolate for pairing, free Fried Chicken Karaage to take home, and 20% off all sake bottles in the store. My favorite was Emishiki Ginjo World Peace. It paired with Sashimi very well. I bought a bottle of it. Super fun event. Friendly staff. Looking forward to the next one. Tasting reservations via Tock.

Truffle and Pinot Noir in a "Wine Library". Truffle honey and melted brie texture in Wood Oven Baked Brie was amazing. Bread was warm and crispy. Shaved truffle on top. Truffle pizza was light and tasty, like flatbread style. Truffle fries are must-try. No reservations. Walk-in only. Free parking at structure next to the restaurant if entering before 6pm.

Orange Bistro@Alhambra ★★

New Taiwanese Restaurant in Downtown Alhambra. Pricier than usual but big portions. Better for large group. The Cup Chicken Combination was rich and flavorful with Squid and Intestine. Best to order a bowl of rice for $1.50 to pair it. Taiwanese Assorted Pan-Fried Rice Noodles was nice, and it's also better with rice. Oyster Omelet was nice. Thin Noodle with Black Sesame Oil was a big bowl of plain noodles. Nice and friendly staff. Had some language barrier because I didn't understand Mandarin. Complimentary pot of tea. No wait for Sunday lunch.
