zoku@Redondo Beach ★★★

Great New Yakitori Restaurant. Elevated version of 鳥貴族 Torikizoku  from Japan. Nice range of appetizers. Got to try the Grilled Rice Ball & Signature Peach Parfait this time since it was sold out last in last visit. Vegetable skewers kept hot while meat skewers tended to get cold quickly. Hojicha Panna Cotta was better than the Peach Parfait. Grand opening 8/22/24. Metered street parking or metered lot across the street.

New Yakitori from 鳥貴族 Torikizoku in Japan. Opened 10 days ago. Nice Yakitori. Reasonable price. While all dishes at Torikizoku Japan is only 370 yen (tax included), zoku is more elevated. Zoku Salad was nice & refreshing. Brussels Sprouts were too big to eat as a whole in one bite. Cutting in 1/2 would be better. I also prefer them crispier. Hojicha Panna Cotta dessert was light and easy to digest. Using Binchotan. Americanized vibe. Accepts reservations and walk-in. Nice to see old face from Tonchin. Street parking is a bit challenging & could be a few blocks away. Torikizoku will be opening soon in Torrance. Will have to come back to try their sold out items such as the Grilled Rice Ball & Peach Parfait.

Gokumi@Santa Ana ★★★

Fantastic First Yakitori Omakase w/ Sake Pairing Pop-Up Event. Over 20 courses with super generous portion that included various appetizers, yakitori course, A5 Miyazaki beef, fried dishes, ramen, and even dessert. Vegetables would be nice to balance the meat. Guest count was limited to 14 people and was very well under control. Ryo-san is an amazing Yakitori Chef. Sake presented by Fifth Taste. $150 per person includes sake pairing. Great deal. Our go-to Yakitori place after visiting Disneyland. Cold UCC Green tea $3.50. Free limited parking in lot.
