Masei Masei@San Gabriel ★★

Asian Fusion Iazakaya Place. They just have this new menu two weeks ago. The Tonkatsu with Sliced Tako and Bonito is really cute. They treat the Tonkatsu like a Takoyaki - it is topped with bonito, mayo, takoyaki sauce, and shredded seaweed. The pork meat in the Tonkatsu is very thick and is great for meat-lovers. Robatas are good. Okra with Grated Japanese Yam is super slimy. I love the double sliminess. Add soy sauce to it and it will taste perfect. The Fried Lotus Root is a bit hard, maybe they can make slightly thinner slices. The Passion Fruit Soju has a bit too much syrup, maybe I will ask them to put less sugar next time. The Pumpbrulee (Pumpkin Crème Brûlée) was sold out. I would like to try it next time. Great service. They open till 1:00am, great for late-nighters. (Closed on Tuesdays)

Tonkatsu - Fried Pork Lion with Sliced Tako and Bonito Dinner Set $12.85 (comes with rice and soup)

Bacon Wrapped Scallop $2.58, Beef Liver $1.85

Wasabi-Mayo Scallop Sashimi $6.85

Complimentary Soy Sauce Peanuts

Passion Fruit Soju $5.85

Fried Lotus Root $4.85
