Kuheiji Exclusive Tasting Night@UKA Japan House Hollywood ★★★

Nice Kaiseki Dinner with Kuheiji Sake Pairing Event. Premium & innovative sake with fruity aroma. Pure & refreshing. After having the greatest pleasure to meet Mr. Kuno Kuheiji & Matei Nicolae from Kuheiji at Ototo the night before, we tailgate into Night 2 of Kuheiji with Matei-san again. Glad that I went to both events, because the 2 consecutive Kuheiji events had a different focus. At UKA, Matei-san started the evening off with video and overview presentation on Kuheiji. 7 glasses of Kuheiji sake were presented in the sake pairing & for comparison. Matei-san is an amazing Kuheiji expert and answered all my questions regarding Kuheiji. Kaiseki dinner with Kuheiji sake pairing event $350 per person. 5pm seating. Validated parking at Hollywood & Highland structure $19.

Kuheiji x Fifth Taste Sake@Ototo Echo Park ★★★

Best Sake Event Ever. 九平次 Kuheiji since 1647. First Japanese sake ever served in 3 Michelin Stars restaurant in Paris in 2006. Contemporary & elegant. Fantastic pairing w/ caviar. 200% star-struck to exclusively meet Mr. Kuheiji Kuno, 15th generation of Kuheiji, for the excellent wine pairing French dinner presented by Fifth Taste. He is the sake legend and mastermind behind Kuheiji. Kuheiji-san is the Top 100 Most Respected Japanese People in the World in 2007. He farms in the terrior and experiments the rice fields & climate himself. Sake pairing dinner $225 per person.

Holy Basil@Downtown LA ★★★

Great Thai Food. Eggplant & Kabocha Squash Rice and Curry (they are spicy) are always my favorite. Jidori Chicken are also great. Decided to try their Pad Thai this time. Comes with a slice of lime on the side. 3 pieces shrimps protein add on for $4 might not worth it – Shrimps were slightly grilled and not seasoned. Will stick with the complimentary Moo Krob - Crispy Pork Belly protein next time. Portions on the light side. Pad Thai was nice but not very filling. Parking in Downtown LA is challenging as usual – metered street parking or paid lots. UberEats available with a markup on the prices.

Lovely Nostalgic Hong Kong Themed Décor. Features Hong Kong Cafe food. Grand opening week for Temple City location. The HK Style Soup Noodle is probably their signature dish. It's nice. Kind of fun to customize your choice of soup base, noodles, and 4 ingredients. Could be a brain picker. I recommend picking all meat (try the ones without extra charge, which are equally awesome), as there are already 2 stems of Chinese Broccoli included. I liked Pork Kidney, Pork Intestine, and Cuttlefish Ball. Thought Curry Pork Skin would be a good value, but it came in cold with not much curry flavor. Will try another ingredient next time. Noodle Soup temperature was fine for me but might not be hot enough for others. Very busy and backed up for opening week, especially at the cash register. Scan QR code by front entrance to for virtual queue. Dinner wait time was 25 mins for table of 1. Noodles came out within 10 mins. Cash only on the day I went. Free parking in busy lot or street parking.

Lumière Brasserie@Century City ★★★

Great French Food. Kushi Oysters was fresh and sweet. Liked all the dishes we ordered and their flavors. Had Mille Feuille with Earl Grey for dessert for a nice finish. Nice ambience. Good service. Validated valet parking at hotel $17.60 for 4 hours or park at Westfield Century City and walk a block over. Will come back for brunch next time.
