sawa x Akabu Chief Brewer@Little Tokyo ★★★

Incredible. Exclusive Akabu sake pairing event with 杜氏 Chief Brewer coming from Iwate, Japan. By Fifth Taste. 古舘龍之介 Ryunosuke Furudate, creator of Akabu sake, was seated next to me for the dinner while he hosted the event. Star-struck. I chatted with him and his sister, 古舘岬 Misaki-san, about their brewery with my limited beginner Japanese. Had the best time of my life. The brewery has a long history and is a family business passed on from their grandfather and parents. Akabu Gokujyo no Kire is refreshing, smooth, and fruity excellent premium sake. Hope to be able to visit the brewery in Iwate one day.

Sushi Chef Ryo-san is amazing & caring. Gabriel is like a ray of sunshine. Lynn and Natalia the bartenders are very nice and sweet. Finally got to meet Yumiko-san from Sake Suki. Event omakase $200. $150 for sake pairing at event. Parking lot $6 cash.

sawa Shellfish Night@Little Tokyo ★★★

Special Shellfish Night. All my favorite food. My 10th visit to sawa. A casual bar environment. Featuring amazing Itamae sushi chefs Ryo-san and Anthony-san. Friendly and fun environment. Lynn, the very sweet and nice bartender, served us the nice Harada Junmai Daiginjo Sake, using Yamadanishiki rice, fruity and full-bodied. Their cocktails are amazing & reasonably priced ($45 for 3 pairing). Thank you for the love, support, & customer service in the past year. They appreciate their customers, especially Ryo-san. They show care for their customers and ensure that they are comfortable. Very grateful to try amazing sushi. Special Shellfish Night Omakase $300 per person. Parking at lot $6 cash. Metered parking $4/hr before 8pm. Enter through Kajima building. Reservations via Tock.
